Honoring Shaylin’s Legacy
Shaylin Crosby was a dedicated Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, and EMT who lived her life with an exceptional passion for helping others, water safety, compassion, athleticism, and artistic performance. Following her tragic passing, a victim of drunk driving, on August 15, 2024, the Shaylin Crosby Scholarship Fund was established to create a sustainable legacy rooted in scholarship, community care, and water safety awareness.
Our Evolution & Impact
As our organization grows, we remain deeply committed to ensuring that every dollar raised goes directly toward fostering a spirit of service and saving lives.
- 2024 Lifesaving Equipment Donation: In our inaugural year, in the absence of traditional applicants, the fund pivoted to make an immediate, tangible impact by donating essential lifesaving equipment to Camp Lakamaga—where Shaylin proudly served as a lifeguard and waterfront director.
- Moving Forward with Direct Funding: To eliminate administrative barriers for busy students and ensure our funds directly reach those training on the front lines of emergency care, we have transitioned to a direct-funding model.
How the Scholarship Works Now
The Shaylin Crosby Scholarship Fund now proudly awards two $1,000 scholarships annually, distributed directly through the financial aid and emergency medical program offices at:
- Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)
- Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC)
📌 Note for Students: There is no longer an external application form to fill out on this website. Funds are disbursed directly to the colleges to support dedicated individuals pursuing their EMT certification. Eligible students are automatically considered through their school’s respective emergency medical program pathways.
